COVID-19 Guidelines

As of January 27, 2021

The Northwest Arena is open for limited activities including rentals by groups and individuals planning low contact activities, walking on the walking track, and curling leagues starting October 12. For more information, email Craig Hinderleider, Director of Operations. Or, call 716-484-2624 between 4 PM and 9 PM, Mon–Fri.

  • Under no circumstances should anyone enter the Northwest Arena if they are feeling unwell. This includes but is not limited to symptoms such as fever, cough, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, chills, muscle pain, sore throat, or a new loss of taste or smell that cannot be attributed to another health condition in the past 2-14 days.
  • Following guidelines released by the New York State Department of Health, USA Hockey, and U.S. Figure Skating, face coverings or masks are always required to be worn by spectators, coaches, trainers, and/or other individuals who are not directly engaged in physical activity (practicing, playing).
    • Always ensure 6 ft. distance between individuals unless safety or core activity (e.g., practicing, playing) requires a shorter distance. If a shorter distance is required, individuals must wear face coverings unless players are unable to tolerate such a covering for the physical activity (practicing, playing.)
  • Abide by social distancing protocols and always stay at least 6 feet apart.
  • Use the hand sanitizers provided throughout the Northwest Arena and wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
  • Leave valuables/personal items at home – there is no lost and found service; items will be discarded.
  • Do not bring outside food/beverages into the Northwest Arena.
  • Two (2) spectators are permitted to accompany each skater/player. Spectators must adhere to section seating guidelines.
    • (We encourage you to subscribe to LiveBarn to watch games and practices live and on-demand. Use promo code 5f27-2psd to save 10% on your subscription.)
  • Come dressed for play as much as possible so that you can get on the ice without visiting lockers rooms. Temporary skate tying areas will be located throughout the facility.
  • Be prepared to enter and exit the facility no more than 15 minutes before and after ice time so that the rink staff may properly clean before the next group arrives.
  • Adhere to entrance and exit signs posted throughout the building. This will ensure proper traffic flow and eliminate congregating in the lobby area.

Northwest Arena is taking these following steps for your safety:

• Signage and indicators throughout the facility designate six feet distancing, traffic flow and CDC guidelines.

• We will be providing hand sanitizer throughout the facility – however, we also recommend that you bring your own supply.

• We will be regularly cleaning and sanitizing surfaces, restrooms, locker rooms, player benches, penalty boxes and other areas following CDC guidelines.

• Our employees are wearing masks, practicing social distancing, frequently washing their hands and having their temperature taken before their shift.
