Life Lessons in Sports: What Participation in Athletics Can Inspire
Student-Athletes and Coaches from Across the Region Gather at Northwest Arena to Learn About Sportsmanship
Jamestown, New York: Young athletes can learn valuable life lessons through their involvement in scholastic sports. That is precisely the theme of the 14th Annual Athletic Symposium on Sportsmanship, which will take place on Friday, April 29, 2022, at Northwest Arena in Jamestown, NY.
Organized by the Frewsburg Varsity Club and Chautauqua/Cattaraugus Athletic Association (CCAA), this event brings together 225 athletes, coaches, Athletic Directors, and Chief School Officials from 25 school districts across Chautauqua and Cattaraugus Counties. Each of the attending athletes, who are primarily sophomores and juniors, were chosen for their ability to exemplify and influence sportsmanship within their respective communities.
This year’s event, “Life Lessons in Sports,” invites all participants to “Be the Change.” Attendees will engage in peer discussions on sportsmanship, team building games, and examine what greater life lessons athletics can teach us. Closing activities will focus on the positive impact of volunteering and the importance of community involvement.
Keith Martin, Executive Director of Northwest Arena shared, “this is a full-circle moment for me. Involvement in sports has been a driving force in my life and career from an early age. To be able to host these exemplary athletes, coaches, and administrators at Northwest Arena is truly an honor.
The 14th Annual Athletic Symposium on Sportsmanship is made possible due to the support of Honest John’s Pizza, Farm Fresh Foods, Little Debbie Snacks, Southern Chautauqua FCU, Career Concepts, Chautauqua Sports of Fame, CCAA, and Frewsburg Junior/Senior High School.
